Equality among members in a political party, grounded in principles of human dignity, encompasses several dimensions:
1. Equal Opportunity: Providing all members, regardless of their background, with equal access to opportunities for career advancement, training, and development. This ensures that personal characteristics like gender, race, or culture don’t limit one’s professional growth.
2. Equal Contribution and Value: Recognizing and valuing the contributions of all members equally, regardless of their background. This involves acknowledging and rewarding members’ efforts and achievements based on merit rather than personal characteristics.
3. Gender Equality: Ensuring that individuals of all genders have equal opportunities, treatment, and representation within the party. This encompasses addressing appointment to certain positions, offering opportunity to be candidates, and promoting diversity in leadership roles.
4. Racial Equality: Promoting an environment where individuals of all races and ethnicities are treated fairly and without discrimination. This involves addressing systemic biases, promoting cultural understanding, and actively recruiting and retaining a diverse membership pool.
5. Cultural Sensitivity: Creating an inclusive atmosphere where various cultural backgrounds are respected and celebrated. This involves understanding and accommodating diverse cultural practices and beliefs within the workplace. Malaysia is known to have various celebrated days based on race and religion such as Chinese New Year and Hari Raya
6. Respect for Human Dignity: Treating all members with respect, regardless of their characteristics. This involves creating a safe and respectful environment where individuals can voice their concerns without fear of reprisal. This is important as many party elite members tend to feel threaten when a new idea is proposed and getting momentum of support .
7. Merit-Based Recognition: Acknowledging and rewarding individuals based on their skills, performance, and accomplishments rather than relying on personal attributes. Certainly a big NO to NEPOTISM. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to advance based on their abilities.
8. Inclusive Policies: Implementing policies that cater to the needs of all employees, considering factors like disabilities, religious observances, and other personal characteristics, to ensure that everyone can participate fully in the political leadership.
9. Elimination of Bias: Implementing strategies to identify and address unconscious biases that might affect decision-making, hiring, promotions, and other aspects of the appointment lifecycle. Again ELITISM and NEPOTISM are highly toxic and sooner or later will lead to total party destruction and extinction.
10. Diverse Leadership: Striving for leadership teams that reflect the diversity of the workforce, as diverse leadership fosters a broader range of perspectives and promotes inclusive decision-making. The older members must realise they don’t own the party as a form of family dynasty. Without support of the members a party is as good as dead. Elderly members who lost election must resign with honour, just like its former President; however a certain Deputy President failed to comprehend or even understand such a basic rule of game. If election fund is his sole objective, then the “beginning of the end “ is at hand.
Overall, equality in a party based on human dignity encompasses creating an inclusive environment where every individual has the same opportunities, can make valuable contributions, and is treated with respect, regardless of their gender, race, culture, or other personal characteristics.
